Join United Way for Jazz in the Park

Tuesday, September 14, 1999, Dayton, OH - United Way volunteers will kickoff the final community campaign of the 20th Century on Friday, September 17, with live jazz music at Carillon Park.

The kickoff is free and open to the public. It will feature the live jazz music of the Eric Jerardi Band. The kickoff will begin at 5 p.m. and last until 7 p.m. at Carillon Park, 2001 S. Patterson Blvd.

At 5:45 p.m. Campaign Chair Phil Parker, President of the Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce, will announce this year's goal.

Though the economy is widely perceived as prosperous, the community needs United Way's help now, more than ever. Four out of ten of Dayton's children live in poverty - well more than the national average of 18%.

United Way has been serving the people of Montgomery, Greene, and Preble Counties for 85 years. With a renewed focus on funding those programs that produce the greatest outcomes, United Way is continuing to prove themselves as the most effective and efficient stewards of the community's donations.
