The 2002 United Way community-wide campaign "Neighbors Helping Neighbors" kickoffs off on September 5th and we're glad you're on our team.

On behalf of Ron Amos, 2002 Campaign Chair and Kenny Delaney, 2002 Labor Chair, THANK YOU for coordinating your employers United Way campaign to benefit our neighbors living in Montgomery, Greene, and Preble Counties!

Your role is crucial. Without your help, we simply could not achieve the goals that our community has asked us to pursue --- fund vital programs that make a positive impact and help people who really need help --- people like your co-workers, family, friends, and neighbors --- local people, here at home, like you.

As your partner, we need your help educating the community that their gift to the Community Solutions Fund makes the biggest difference and helps more people than any single agency--- the dollars raised here stay here, achieving countless results.

This guide was developed to provide you with the materials you need to plan and execute a successful workplace campaign. This section is packed with a lot of great ideas to help you run a successful campaign and have FUN!


6 Steps To Success

Set the Pace...Begin with Top Management
" Appoint a member of your management as the Campaign Coordinator or to serve on the Campaign Committee (someone that motivates / has influence).
" Secure a corporate gift, including matching employee gift.
" Request management to make a personal appearance at your workplace campaign events.
" Ask CEO to write a letter endorsing campaign.
" Ask senior management to assist in securing incentives.
" Conduct a Leadership Campaign prior to the regular employee campaign for senior-level managers.

Preparation/Planning/Goal Setting

" Recruit, review and train ~ obtain campaign assistance from all levels of your organization and review last years campaign for areas of growth and ways to improve, including Organized Labor if applicable.
" Meet with United Way Campaign Staff Representative, Ambassador or Fellow to plan goals based on potential of all employees donating to the campaign.
" Join United Ways Campaign Coordinator List Serve.
" Determine which award level your organization wants to be recognized at by United Way.
" Start early and develop a timeline and calendar of events.

Running Your Campaign
" Make it personal, fun and educational!
" Publicize the campaign.
" Host a kick-off celebration.
" Communicate match programs (if applicable).
" Host employee rallies with United Way speakers.
" Show the 2002 Campaign Video and use success stories.
" Review Pledge Form and promote the Community Solutions Fund.
" Make the ask.
 
Convincing Employees to Give
" Emphasize the convenience of payroll deduction.
" Avoid coercion.
" Be Prepared --- Find out how to increase giving, handle objections, disenchanted employees, answers to hot topics, sample solicitation letters, etc.
 
Report Your Success!
" Tally results and share with employees
" Fill out United Way Report Form and Corporate Pledge Form
" Call Your United Way Campaign Staff Representative for pick-up.
  
Say THANKS!
" Thank everyone that donated to the campaign.
" Thank campaign committee members.
