The Levin Family Foundation has awarded grants to eight youth-serving agencies in the Dayton community. In partnership with United Way of the Greater Dayton Area, youth leadership participants from selected agencies submitted proposals for consideration. This is the first time that United Way and the Levin Family Foundation invited area youth to develop and present service ideas for funding. Proposal interviews were scheduled with each youth group and their adult advisors. All projects are to be completed by June 2004.
The Levin Family Foundation and United Way encouraged the youth leaders to have fun working on the proposed service, to think creatively, leverage the funds awarded when considering how to stretch available resources, and to consider the experience an important opportunity to learn about community service and leadership.
