United Way Partnership Benefits Yellow Springs
United Way is more than just a safety net.  The United Way is about making lasting positive change in local communities.  One way United Way works towards that end in Greene County is by partnering with the Yellow Springs Community Council.

The Yellow Springs Community Council has been a United Way Partner Agency since 1976.  One way the council serves the community of Yellow Springs and the surrounding area is to administer United Way funding in support of charitable, educational, literary and scientific endeavors.  The organizations they support range greatly, yet align with the United Way’s focus on education, income, and health:
•    African American Cross-Cultural Works
•    Arts Council of Yellow Springs
•    Clifton Senior Center
•    Emergency Welfare
•    Therapeutic Riding Center
•    Yellow Springs Community Chorus
•    Yellow Springs Kids Playhouse
•    Yellow Springs Recreation Board & Aquatic Club
•    Yellow Springs Senior Center
•    Yellow Springs Youth Center
•    Yellow Springs Youth Orchestra

Addressing the need for positive youth development, the Yellow Springs Kids Playhouse is a theater company for children ages 8-18.  They strive to develop future leaders and artists and to bring the arts to the community. Through the creation and production of original works, the playhouse promotes understanding of the complex times in which we live.

When a family or individual is facing a crisis, temporary assistance to meet basic needs can be crucial to sustaining or regaining financial stability.

Health and well-being is a focus of the Therapeutic Riding Center.  The center provides a healthful, stimulating, and thrilling experience to many disadvantaged and disabled persons in the community.  The center has offered therapeutic riding for over 20 years and serves more than 40 clients per week with disabilities ranging from cerebral palsy to autism.

Together, United Way and the Yellow Springs Community Council can do more together than they can alone. Without a doubt, it is a partnership that is paying dividends in Yellow Springs and Greene County.
