United Way Honors Community Leader
Tuesday, April 9, 2002 - United Way of the Greater Dayton Area will honor Laurence Harkness, President and CEO, Children's Medical Center, with the second annual
Smith-Moore Human Services Award, on Tuesday, April 9, from 11:30 .m. to 1:00 p.m. at Sinclair Community College, Ponitz Center Great Hall. This presentation will be held during United Way's Annual Meeting.
Named in honor of Fred Smith and John Moore, past Chairmen of the Board, this singular award is given annually to a local leader who has made a difference in the quality of life in the Miami Valley through volunteer involvement, commitment, and vision in the area of health and human services.
In addition to the presentation of the Smith Moore Award, United Way will be presenting several other awards:

Anne S. Greene, the first woman to chair the United Way Board of Directors, will be the first recipient in a decade to be bestowed the status and title of United Way Honorary Life Member. |

United Way and the Dayton Urban League will dedicate the Charity A. Earley Training Room. |
" |
United Rehabilitation Services and the Family Violence Collaborative of Artemis and YWCA will receive Excellence in Outcome Evaluation Awards. |
Participants will also be asked to provide input into United Way's strategic investment plan that will focus human and financial resources on targeted outcomes in order to make more of an impact on the quality of life in our community.
