Spirit of Volunteerism Strong in Our Community

United Way volunteers showed their community support in June and July by participating in Community Care Day. Employees from Victoria Theatre and M&M Contracting gave Mercy Manor a landscaping make-over, and the Family Violence Prevention Center in Greene County received a fresh coat of paint, courtesy of the management team from Elano Corporation. Interns from NCR and Reynolds and Reynolds also completed projects at the Boys and Girls Club and the Tecumseh Boy Scout Council's Camp Birch. Robert Stonerock and employees from M&M Contracting also volunteered at Camp Birch. GE Card Services and The Berry Company helped support the Miami Valley Literacy Council, by donating school supplies and books. Accordia hosted a food drive for Catholic Social Services' Food Pantry, and Kurz Kash donated clothing and household items to Mercy Manor. St. Christopher’s Girl Scout Troop 1767 held a book drive and back-to-school supplies drive for The Dakota Center and Daybreak.

United Way agencies put the maximum dollars towards their vital programming, so these projects helped stretch their budgets and make some much needed repairs and improvements. Volunteers also got a first-hand look at the agencies and were able to meet many of the beneficiaries their donations help support.
