2004 Community Assessment

Priority 3 – Community Capacity

This priority area covers United Way's unique role in building capacity, both at the nonprofit health and human service sector level and the community level.   Ensuring a continuum of care from prevention to crisis intervention services, reaching a critical mass, and sustaining long-term efforts to realize results are important considerations in this priority area.   The overall focus is making connections/matching needs and resources along with the following:

Agency Collaborations and Nonprofit Development – to increase efficiency/effectiveness.

Community-wide Coordination of Services – reducing barriers and ensuring a core safety net.

Neighborhood/Community Development – involving citizens in addressing their own needs.
