Alexis deTocequeville Society
The Alexis de Tocqueville Society of the United Way of the Greater Dayton area was founded in 1986 to recognize and encourage exemplary leadership gifts by individuals who generously donated $10,000 and above. The Society is named for Alexis de Tocqueville, the nineteenth century French aristocrat who wrote Democracy in America . In this work, a study of American society and politics, Tocqueville declared his admiration for the American philanthropic spirit, which he believed to be one of our countrys greatest assets. |
