Alexis deTocequeville Society
| The Alexis de Tocqueville Society of the United Way of the Greater Dayton area was founded in 1986 to recognize and encourage exemplary leadership gifts by individuals who generously donated $10,000 and above. The Society is named for Alexis de Tocqueville, the nineteenth century French aristocrat who wrote Democracy in America . In this work, a study of American society and politics, Tocqueville declared his admiration for the American philanthropic spirit, which he believed to be one of our countrys greatest assets. |
