Regardless of your gender, age, race, social or economic background, you can bring something special into the lives of children. It's not about skill or perfection. It also isn't about "playing the parent." It's about making a difference for a child - and for yourself. As a Big Couple volunteer, you can be the person who brings that magic into the life of a child. A background check and training are provided by the agency.

Volunteers will need to provide own transportation and a driver license will be necessary for volunteers who directly provide transportation. Agency will supply all materials.

An individual or pair of individuals is needed to provide an evening meal for up to 22 residents. Volunteers will plan meals and provide food preparation, as well as clean up following the meal. Special training regarding use of kitchen and health department regulations will also be provided.

Volunteers are needed to serve meals to homeless and working poor. Volunteers will be assigned to tasks by Kitchen Director. Tasks include wiping down chairs and tables, wrapping silverware, counting trays, assisting in the retrieval of needed products or supplies, washing, drying and folding laundry, disposing of trash and sorting/storing incoming donations. Doors open for clients at 11:30am and close at 1pm. Volunteers clean up after meal as well. Volunteers must wear closed-toe shoes and shirts with sleeves.

Volunteer pet therapy teams will visit local hospitals, schools, nursing homes and a variety of other facilities. Volunteer and agency will set a flexible schedule. Pet must be 12 months or older.
