On Saturday, September 20th, 2008, thousands of runners from across the globe will gather at Wright Patterson Air Force Base to participate in the 12th annual United States Air Force Marathon. This event gives both civilians and military employees the opportunity to celebrate the armed forces at the largest Air Force Base in the continental United States.
For the second year, United Way of the Greater Dayton Area has been named an official charity sponsor for the USAF Marathon. In lieu of paying the entry fee for the race, athletes can collect pledges on behalf of United Way and our local network of health and human services, or they can split those pledges between United Way and their favorite partner agency. Over 6,000 athletes participated in the 2007 Marathon; please join us in 2008 for an even bigger event as we spread our mission of advancing the common good.
