United Way Endorses Sinclair Levy

Dayton, OH, February 20, 2008 - United Way of the Greater Dayton Area formally endorsed Issue 39, an operating levy on the March 4th ballot that provides millions of dollars of support for Sinclair Community College. If passed, the issue would renew the current 2.5 mill operating levy plus provide an additional 0.7 mills that would help maintain low tuition rates and provide career training and development for thousands of local adults.

One of the largest community colleges in America, Sinclair currently serves over 22,000 students and has seen over 90,000 students enroll in the institution over the past ten years. Over the years, Sinclair has flexed and expanded to stay in touch with the needs of employers in the community, and currently more than 80% of their graduates live and work in the Greater Dayton Area. Issue 39 would provide the college with over one-fifth of its annual budget and represents Sinclair's only form of local support.  The levy would cost property owners $3.50 per month for a property valued at $100,000.
